Free Temple Quest Spinfinity slot
Please be patient, some games take longer to load than others!
Temple Quest Spinfinity slot is actually based on an older BTG game Temple Quest and was also available via the Microgaming Platform, but no doubt buoyed by the recent successes of their Megaways slots such as Bonanza, White Rabbit and Danger High Voltage, BTG have felt a revamp is due. The icons and theme remain the same, a South American Inca Temple background deep in the jungle and as well as the birdsong and native music we hear the trademark BTG ticking noise as the reels stop too. The skin of the game now has the buttons you may be familiar with from playing the above games, but has the remake improved prospects for our bankroll too?
On the reels...
In a word, no! We retain the 40 paying lines over the 5 reels of 4 rows each and the colossal symbols of 2x2, 3x3 or even 4x4 which can appear but we seem to have lost the 2 pick-me features present on the original. You pay 10 coins to play and BTG proudly proclaim 'Pay for 10 lines and get 30 free!' Yeah, OK Big Time Gaming.
Even the one feature retained, the free games, has been reduced in quality as we shall discover. The small range of symbols is similar though with only 6 paying ones, all of which can be stacked as well as in blocks. The Wild however only appears singly unless it appears in the block form, something which I have never observed happening although the rules don't state it's an excluded icon. It pays 37.5x your stake for 5-of-a-kind but you won't see it barring a miracle. The rest of the pays are Gold Mask at 5x, Macaws at 2x, Green Gem 1.5x with the 3 card values paying 8, 6 and 4 coins for A, K and Q respectively. This sets the tone for what is a poor, poor game!
You get a 3x3 block scatter which will trigger 3, 6 or 9 spins depending on how many rows it lands over. The original had a 4x4 scatter so 16 spins were possible, no such luck here. There is a single enhancement aside from possible retriggers and that is the fact reels 2,3,4 and 5 will solely consist of 4x4 colossal icons. When you consider for example that if you got 2 Kings on reel 1 and then the 4x4 King on the rest of the grid you would only win 16x bet, you may understand my lack of enthusiasm even from the beginning for this slot. 'Spinfinity' refers to the possibility of unlimited retriggers during the bonus, and during extensive demo play I never saw one retrigger.
Temple Quest Spinfinity slot is in total contrast to BTG's other three releases this year mentioned at the start of which at least two are likely to considered classics further along the line. To revamp a game and make it considerably worse than before is a feat seldom achieved by a developer, I mean Play'n Go even managed to make Hugo better in Hugo 2! The reasonable 96.17% RTP is moot due to the ridiculous 'micro wins' you see in the base game which inevitably mean once you are 40 or 50 times your stake down you are highly unlikely to recover your position. I have never been so bored testing a 'new' game as I was with this and my personal quest is absolutely never to trek through the jungle to this temple again...
