Samba Nights slot review
Great party-themed slots that put you in the summer party mood: Betsoft Gaming's cracking dance-inspired At the Copa or NetEnt's bonkers take on the 1970s, Disco Spins are two particular favorites of mine. Online slots developer Cryptologic are no stranger to cramming their online slots with exciting features, and their slice of Brazilian entertainment, Samba Nights, is no different.
On the Reels...
As you can guess from the title, Samba Nights is an online slot jam-packed with color and music. The backdrop to this 4-row, 5-reel, 50-payline slot is full of frills and costumes from a typical Brazilian fiesta, and the reels are bursting with life.
On the reels, the regular symbols are taken up by a fire-breather, a trumpeter, a tambourine, cocktails, plus festive-looking 9-through-Ace symbols.
Pull the Wild Samba Girls and Win a 2,000 Coin Jackpot
The Wild, meanwhile, is the beautiful dancer who substitutes for all regular symbols other than the Scatters, and doubles all winning combos she helps form.
Five Girls across the reels pays out a 2,000-coin jackpot. Whenever the Wild Girl substitutes in a winning combo she launches into a jerky animated dance on the reels.
Hit the Beach and Earn 20 Free Spins with a 2x Multiplier
When three Beach Scatters land on Reels 2, 3 and 4, you'll win yourself 20 free spins with a 2x multiplier. Unfortunately, that's all you're going to get from a game that is full of frills on the outskirts but definitely no-frills on the reels.
In fact, not only is 20 spins at 2x not especially generous, it's hard to trigger as you have to hit three specific reels, even with four rows featured in the game.
For my money, you'd be better off with the Betsoft slot, At the Copa: it has better graphics, more involvement in the gameplay and some great multi-layered bonus features.
As for Samba Nights, it's probably time for Cryptologic to pack away the dancing shoes and switch off the music.
