Fortune Coin slot review
Fortune Coin slot by IGT adds to their extensive collection of Chinese themed games which they tend to do very well, due to their land-based cabinet traditions. Like their Triple Fortune Dragon this is a Multiway game and has similarities to Dragon's Temple too although as a slot player you're most likely to have played 100 Pandas which is a favourite of mine too. You get a dark blue background of a forest with soft oriental music and some very crisp gold graphics to make this a very attractive slot on the eye. We must hope some fortune is bestowed upon the coins in our bankroll too!
On The Reels...
Multiway was the forerunner of what we now know as 243-way slots and we have this here on Fortune Coin slot so no fixed pay lines. Symbols can appear stacked and you pay 60 coins to spin with one symbol selected each spin to have super stacks present on the reels. The 5-of-a-kind pays are extremely low, in fact representing them as multiples of the 60-coin stake won't work so I'll just give the coin values. Gold Tiger 40 coins, Gold Dragon 35, Gold Carp 30, Gold Bowl 25 and Gold Bell 20 with six card values all paying 15 for a full way. Single Long Dragon Wilds appear on the last 4 reels too but you can get more of them if they are selected as the Super-Stacked symbol during a spin. Dragon Sun scatters appear on all reels but they aren't the only way to trigger the bonus as we'll see shortly.
You may get one or more Gold Coins appear. You will then get a reveal which will give 5, 10, 15 or 20 free spins, cash awards or the jackpot pick-me. There will be a screen where you make picks and the first of Mini, Minor, Major or Maxi will pay 5.00, 10.00, 25.00 or 100.00 in relation to the basic stake of 60 coins or a 0.6 bet. You can also reveal a Boost, Super Boost or Mega Boost which will raise those fixed jackpot amounts. If very lucky, you'll reveal the Reward All disc which gives you all the jackpots!
Landing 3 Dragon Suns will award 10 free spins, 4 gives 15 and all 5 is 20 spins. You can still land the Coin Bonus during these spins and your enhancement is that the Super Stacks each spin will always be one of the 5 picture symbols, no lower card values appear on the reels. You can also retrigger with the standard 3 or more scatters and tend to see more coins land too. A very entertaining round - sometimes.
Fortune Coin slot is pretty entertaining and certainly shows IGT's land-based pedigree as regards the sounds, graphics and animations which are great. The pays are low due to the occasional spins where the super stacks line up and actually pay more than your stake, but it has to be said the free games seldom award micro pays even if it very hard to win over 100x bet in them. It is what it is, a lower-volatility game you'd expect in a land casino for play time with little expectation of big hits. The RTP is 92.20 to 96.20 depending on the operator. The game may work well in a cabinet, but up against other online slots I'm not so sure...
