Fishin' For Gold slot by iSoftBet takes us in rather childish cartoon form to the cold seas of the Arctic which feature behind the reels. To supplement the slightly inane appearance we hear annoying Disney-style orchestra music in the background as we spin. Fishing themes have a history in slots with Microgaming's equally daft Fish Party and Netent's even sillier Fishy Fortune but it won't surprise you to hear these fish have also made it into the Megaways era with Blueprint's Fishin' Frenzy. On The Reels...
There are 25 fixed pay lines here on Fishin' For Gold slot with single and stacked symbols. The top 5-of-a-kind is the Polar Bear at 40x bet, Penguin 20x, Bucket or Old Boot 12x with four card values paying 6 down to 4x for a full line. There are Goldfish Bonus scatters on the centre reels too, although what Goldfish are doing in these polar waters I haven't a clue. There are no Wilds in play in the base game but we can see them later on as the bonus is the most important part of this slot.
Bonus Chance Spin
On the top right there is a bonus chance meter. Every time 2 scatters appear, they will fill 1% of the red part into green. At any stage you can spend 1 Credit and gamble that the arrow will land in the green part. Once it's full after 100 pairs of scatters, you get the feature anyway, but if it's say 50% full which will take a fair while, then you gamble on it and lose, it will reset to 0% again so be careful!
Fishin' For Gold Bonus
So you need 3 scatters on reels 2, 3 and 4 unless you trigger it from the meter. You will then pick one of four fishermen who will reel in free spin quantities or symbols off of the reels. Any symbols you catch will become Gold Wilds in the free games and can even be reeled in with a 2, 3 or 5x multiplier overlaid. Once your spins begin, these Wilds are multiplicative and you get 2 extra spins for each 3 scatters you collect during them. There is some big theoretical potential here if you collect Wilds with multipliers and get the higher 5-of-a-kinds come in for you.

Fishin' For Gold slot is one of those games that frankly is quite wearisome to play due to the terrible music and daft appearance but has a decent bonus round. Base game play is okay for turnover and the 96% RTP is reasonable but it's all about the bonus which can pay big and rarely pays poorly. This is the saving grace of the slot ignoring the fact you get a guaranteed trigger after a while for 100 pairs of scatters but don't get drawn into playing it that long. This slot is most definitely 'the one that got away'...
