Mercy of the Gods slot by Netent opens with some powerful and portentous music which seems to promise adventure, excitement and potential and it's probably fair to say you have all three here in varying degrees. Netent have upped their game recently with the great Dead or Alive 2, Narcos and Spinsane which is welcome after the mundanity they started to get known for in the last couple of years. So the music has set the scene for us and the reels are translucent, sitting over a sunny Egyptian temple adorned with statues and hieroglyphs and other recognisable stuff from the time of the Pharaohs. Will our bankroll be the beneficiary of some tomb robbing or will we be cursed forever after entering this forbidden chamber?
We begin our Pharonic adventure with 5 reels of 3 rows apiece and 20 fixed pay lines on Mercy of the Gods slot and single symbols. The 5-of-a-kind pays are 80x stake for the Lady, 60x Ra, 45x Scarab, 35x Pharaoh and 3.5 down to 2x for the four card values present. The Eye of Horus is our scatter which can appear on all reels for the feature trigger, but we must find out about the mysterious Wilds here first.
You can land a Wild anywhere in view and when you do you get free respins until it moves down the reel one row at a time and disappears, perpetuating if another appears in the meantime. If another Wild lands behind an existing Wild, you get a full Wild reel which moves off one row at a time, thus continuing the respins.
You can see Gold Heart scatters on the reels occasionally. You need to collect 3 on any spin, whether straight up or collected during the repsins too. This triggers jackpot reels with blanks and Hearts on, and you get 0.5x to 10x bet for each scatter landed. If you fill one row you get the Minor Progressive, 2 rows the Major and the full screen the Mega!
Having landed 3 or more Eye of Hours scatters, you get 5, 8 or 12 spins for 3, 4 or 5 respectively. During these, all Wilds will expand and trigger the Gift of Life respins and you cannot get a retrigger, but it's possible to trigger the Jackpot game.
Mercy of the Gods slot is fine as it stands but in reality is a clone of Divine Fortune so adds absolutely zilch to the variation of Netent slots. It's a simple shelf-filler with a decent 96.59% RTP and that's about it, unless you are a player that likes to see some of the RTP taken from a game and paid into a progressive. The graphics and sounds are just as good as on its brother, Divine Fortune but the bottom line is, we have a copy here and little else. The Gods of Netent, please have mercy upon us and spare us from more clones...
