Infectious 5 xWays slot by Nolimit City isn't a pandemic-themed slots, don't worry! It's in the mould of Playtech's old Fantastic 4 Marvel licensed game, with fantasy cartoon antiheroes. After the insane 150,000x bet cap of San Quentin xWays slot and xNudge editions such as Bushido Ways slot and the even more volatile El Paso xNudge slot, NLC have met somewhere in the middle here. So we have a desolate post apocalyptic urban scene with dramatic sound effects and music here to set the scene for our battles. We have 1024-ways here so 5 reels of 4 rows each on Infectious 5 xWays slot. Symbols can land in pairs and we begin with 5 characters - Mind Player pays 4x bet for 5-of-a-kind, Torch 3x, Misery 2.5x, Toxicity 2x and Havoc 1.5x with five card values of 1.25 down to 1x for a full way. Bonus Tanks appear on all reels as scatters and Wilds on the centre 3 with xWays the final one. When it lands, it will reveal 2 or 3 of the same symbol bar scatter or Wild and thus increase the ways in play. If a Wild should land in the same spin as the xWays tile then all instances of the revealed symbol will expand to either 2 or 3 rows via the Infectious xWays feature.
Infectious Spins
As usual with Nolimit City, the bonus is where the potential lies. You get Infectious Spins for 3, 4 or 5 scatters and in each instance a choice of either Toxic Hazard or Lock'n Load but we will deal with 3 or 4 scatters as there is a special mode for all 5!
Toxic Hazard - 9 spins for 3 or 10 spins for 4 scatters and 1-5 Wilds will be randomly placed on the middle 3 reels each spin and every time the xWays tile lands it will only reveal a higher-paying Character symbol.
Lock'n Load - you get 7 or 8 spins for 3 or 4 scatters. Any Wilds landing on the middle 3 reels will become sticky and can also display a 2 or 3x multiplier randomly when they land, each Wild also awarding an extra spin. You are guaranteed at least one Wild on the first spin so like the above mode, you will get Infectious xWays every time the xWays tile lands and again, it will only reveal a character symbol.
Mayhem Mode - if you get a 5-scatter trigger or collect one or two more scatters in a 3 or 4-scatter trigger's free games, you are upgraded to Mayhem Mode. You begin with 2 more spins if a straight 5-scatter trigger than with 4-scatters. Your enhancement is that all the 5 characters will now be transformed to the Gold Infectious 5 symbol. This pays 4x bet for 5OAK equivalent to Mind Player, the top base game symbol.
You will see the End of Days animation should you hit the win cap of 55,555x bet here (1 in 28 million rounds) which is far more likely in the ultra volatile choice of Lock'n Load mode rather than the merely high-volatility Toxic Hazard mode!
Our View...
Infectious 5 xWays slot is a decent looking game and comes with bonus-buy options in some jurisdictions. You can buy 3 scatters for 75x bet, 4 for 140x bet and 5 for 555x bet. This affects the RTP which is a basic 96.02% if played normally, but rises to as high as 96.81% if only using the 5-scatter buy. The game isn't bad in basic more with decent graphics and the usual high quality NLC artwork and animations and 3 scatters aren't too hard to get. The big wins will come via Lock'n Load but it can be poor too, so if no early multiplier Wilds on at least 2 reels, you won't win one of those massive hits. To be honest, despite the good things about the game I can't help but feel this game is designed for streamers to make bonus buy videos as anything else will be devoid of too much excitement. I reluctantly say that xWays in my case will mean no-ways...
