Free Fu Er Dai slot
Please be patient, some games take longer to load than others!
Fu Er Dai slot needs no guesswork as to its theme and Play'n Go have added a very decent game to their Oriental collection to accompany Chinese New Year and Golden Legend. Upon seeing this slot I immediately thought 'here we go', yet another slot targeting players from the Far East, but was pleasantly surprised by both the game mechanic and fantastic graphics present. Play'n Go have even jazzed-up the archetypal Chinese pipe and cymbals music by mixing it with a modern more funky sounds and the transparent reels are framed with spectacular golden dragons and lie over a temple room illuminated by traditional lanterns. The name is actually quite odd as it's a disrespectful term in modern China for the kids of the the nouveau riche, spoilt and born to the new generation of rich business people, so will it give our bankroll the silver spoon treatment?
On the reels...
In keeping with the title the playthings of these kids are present and form the top icons of this 10-line 5-reel slot. They do give some nice rewards for 5-of-a-kind wins, the cool young dude in the sunglasses paying 150x bet, the gold mobile phone 75x, golden keys 50x, wallet and cash 37.5x and gold watch 25x for a full line; the amount of gold here certainly cements the theme! Even the card values, of which there are five, pay 15x down to 5x. The game is quite simple and works like Netent's Starburst but with bells and whistles, all centred around those spectacular expanding Wilds, as we shall discover.
If you see a Gold Dragon Wild on any of the centre 3 reels it will expand and transform into a beautiful young girl in a long silk robe with an open back. You get a different girl on each reel but they all have a large dragon tattoo covering their backs. This black ink lights up into gold when she appears, an amazing effect that really works. I did wonder if this slot is a tribute to Stieg Larsson given that Play'n Go hail from Sweden and this author who passed in 2004 wrote what is possibly Sweden's most famous book, The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo which was also turned into a hit film - twice! Anyway, only Play'n Go can answer that, but it's a nice thought!
When she appears the reel is Wild and holds for one re-spin. If a second appears then these hold for another re-spin and then it's possible to get the third for a final re-spin with all 3 centre reels Wild. So that's the Starburst similarity. What makes this different is when 2 or 3 Wilds appear on the same spin. This triggers 5 re-spins, all with a guaranteed win plus each 'fresh' Wild sticks for one spin. So if you land two, 5 winning re-spins occur and these triggering two hold for the first re-spin. Any subsequent Wild appearing adds one extra re-spin and you can have up to 20. The best hit seems to come on the first re-spin - on this you'll have 2 Wilds in place and if the third comes in then, not only will the pay be substantial but the 3 Wild reels hold for the next spin too. It's also worth pointing out that Wilds tend to occur more frequently in the re-spin series which may be expected considering they are all guaranteed winner.
Fu Er Dai slot is what I believe the market may have needed; a game appealing to the fans of simple Starburst-like slots with no player involvement but having far higher potential, more fun and infinitely better graphics. With 3 reels Wild for two consecutive spins it's possible to earn well in excess of 1000x bet when the top icon lands on the same row either side for one of the spins, plus you have a good 96.50% RTP. This is a rare game that I actually wanted to keep playing when testing it out so I will definitely be booking another date with these spoilt but rather beautiful tattooed ladies...
