Day of Dead slot by Pragmatic Play brings us the old and popular Mexican 'muerto' theme which is a celebration of those who've passed, but with colour and dance and not a dark aspect. Play'n Go did one called Grim Muerto slot and since then Nextgen's Fortunes of the Dead slot and of course Esqueleto Explosivo slot by Thunderkick must be mentioned here. So we have a spooky night background, eerie music and drum beats to celebrate the passing of those characters on the reels here. Can it be our day regarding our bankroll or will it join the dead too forever?
On the reels...
We begin with 20 pay lines over the 5 reels of 4 rows on Day of Dead slot. Symbols can appear stacked including standard Wilds which are the best 5-of-a-kind at 15x bet along with the top dead character. There are 3 more dead characters of 10, 7.5 and 6x and 3 objects as the medium pays at 5, 4 and 3.5x for the Guitar, Drum and Shakers respectively. The low symbols are four card suits paying either 2.5 or 2x for each full line. You have a Skull scatter on the odd reels and finally a Gravestone Walking Wild which will expand when it lands. If it does, you get re-spins with it moving one reel left each time until it and any further stacked Wilds have disappeared from the screen.
You need the scatter on reels 1, 3 and 5 for the trigger. It's much the same as the re-spin Walking Wilds but now we have a new Collectable Wild. You begin with two of these above the game and at least one will be sent to the reels as a Walking Wild reel to get the round going. You can collect more of these of the reels as you go, and each time no Walking Wild is present on the reels one or more of them will fall onto the reels and the round continues thus. When all Walking Wilds are gone from the game and no collected ones remain above to re-initiate the re-spins, it's all over. Your win cap is 4,500x bet here.
Day of Dead slot has a 96.49% RTP and isn't bad with upbeat music despite the theme and plenty of colour as remember we're here to celebrate not mourn! The base game won't pay much unless landing any of the quite sparse Walking Wilds for the re-spins and you need them on reel 4 or 5 to get a better chance of collecting more winning re-spins. The feature isn't too uncommon and this is far better as it can go on quite a while, even though you may see a lot of tiny wins added unless you get 3+ Wilds all in action at once. It's basically a take from Netent's Jack and the Beanstalk mechanic somehow doesn't equal that slot in volatility or anticipation. I don't know about a day spent with the dead here, but an hour will do me...
