Wild Chapo slot by Relax Gaming continues with the wild west themes which they seem to love so much. Here we have a Mexican bandit as our character of this dusty old wooden house in the desert, along with the music and shooting sound effects you would expect. I can't see this living up to their Money Train 2 slot and definitely not the potential of Netent's Dead or Alive slot, especially the crazy Dead or Alive 2 version with it's 111,111x possible win! So can we outgun this bandit and escape with his gold, or will it be a case of Mexican misery here?
On the reels...
A simple enough start on Wild Chapo slot with 15 lines on 5 reels of 3-rows and symbols appearing singly or in pairs. The Wild pays 40x bet for 5-of-a-kind, Chapo 25x, Horse 20x, Owl 15x, Chihuahua 10x with four card suits of 4x each. Bomb scatters can land on all reels and you do, as the name suggests, get some Wild action. Firstly, if 2 scatters land only, you get a re-spin with them held as sticky Wilds and this continues if any more Wilds appear. Secondly, if a TNT Crate appears, that will create an expanding Wild. that's about it for the base game.
You get 7, 9 or 11 for 3, 4 or 5 scatters. Where the scatters landed, you get a Bomb stored over the tile. Any scatters landing during the spins will also overlay a Bomb over that position. If two have landed this position will display 2 Bombs, up to a maximum of 3. On the final spin, all Bomb positions will turn wild, with a 2x or 3x multiplier if 2 or 3 Bombs were collected in that position. You get 3 extra spins should 3 or more scatters land in any one spin too. On the final spin, Wilds are multiplicative so say having a 3x one on all 5 places in a win line, you would get 40x243 or 9720x for that line alone! That said, the round is capped at 10,000x so it would likely stop right then.
Wild Chapo slot has a 96.36% RTP and is pretty dreary as far as the base game goes. The overall look is very plain and generic for the theme with the only chance of decent wins in the base game via any Wild features you can land. Perhaps this is why in some jurisdictions you can pay 60x bet to buy the feature which isn't too hard to trigger naturally anyway. The bonus does though revolve around one final climactic spin which you know will be crap when you've only collected a few bonus scatters. I don't think I will be quick on the draw to meet this Chapo again...
