Aloha Island slot review
We’ve been a little harsh on Bally’s online offerings here at GamingSlots of late, but perhaps we’re being a bit too unfair.
After all, what you won’t – or will ever – get from the Vegas land-based legends are slick 3D online slots with the latest bonus games and expensive cutaway scenes. What you do get is no-nonsense gaming fare with crisp graphics, what-you-see-is-what-you-get gameplay, and a shit overall experience…. DAMN, we did it again….DAMN, DAMN, DAMN!
Anyway, the 5 reel, 50 payline Aloha Island is here and there’s nothing anyone can do about it. The game treads a familiar beach path to other tropical-themed slots like Rival Gaming’s Tahiti Time or the lush-looking Play'n Go slot Tropical Holiday. So, the background is all blue skies, palm trees and travel agent’s posters, a parrot sits perched on top of the five reels, and the icons – other than typical Bally J, Q, K and A symbols – consist of tropical fish, seashells, oysters, kontiki boats, and the top-paying parrot (1,000 coins if you hit five).
$50,000 Jackpot to be Won
The Aloha Wild symbol substitutes for all symbols in the game other than the Scatter. Five across the reels pays a nice $50,000 jackpot if playing at the top $10 coin. There’s a little more meat to this Wild bone, however. Every spin, one of the reels will be chosen at random and turns Wild for that spin.
Earn up to 50 Free Spins in the Free Games Bonus
Meanwhile, three or more Free Games Scatters triggers a – wait for it – Free Games Bonus, with 5 spins awarded. You can re-trigger up to 50 spins, with one extra spin awarded simply for hitting at least one extra Free Games icon.
A rather meagre bonus round may put off a lot of punters from playing Aloha Island (although the simple re-triggering of spins is a nice touch), but the Wild reel on every spin can lead to some lovely regular cash wins. So, not a complete disaster from Bally, and for fans of land-based slots, probably enough of a success to keep them coming back for more tropical titbits.
