Genie Jackpots Megaways slot is another edition from developer Blueprint Gaming using Big Time Gaming's Megaways license and joins Diamond Mine along with Irish Riches using the format that began with Bonanza. Here though, the symbology is taken from an older game of Merkur's which was the original Genie Jackpots and we get the deep voice-over of the Genie's laugh and the mystery-laden Middle Eastern music while we spin our six reels. If you've played games such as Ted and King Kong Cash you'll be aware of the numerous random features Blueprint tend to use, so their use here plus many different free games rounds makes for a truly involving game! So can this genie's magic lamp protect our bankroll, or will it fall victim to the Forty Thieves?
On the reels...
The Megaways are slightly reduced here as the maximum is all six reels to have 5 rows, giving 15,625 ways fully extended and a minimum of 64 ways at just 2 rows each. The Genie Jackpot icon pays 25x bet for 1 full way of 6-of-a-kind followed by the Gold Chests at 5x, the Hat at 2.5x along with the Swords. There are 6 card values paying either 1 or 0.5x for a full way and all symbols appear stacked in various quantities. Wilds though are mainly single (although you do see the odd double-stacked) and appear on all reels bar the first. Bonus scatters appear on all six reels.
The Genie's lamp
The lamp by the base of reel 6 may rattle on occasion and if the Genie materializes he will grant you one of four in-play benefits.
Genie Wilds - Wilds are thrown onto the grid and can fill up to all 5 rows of a full reel.
Bonus Megaways - the reels extend to maximum ways of 6 x 5 rows and extra bonus icons are scattered on them as they spin, increasing trigger chances.
Wild Megaways - randomly-placed Wilds appear over any tiles on the grid.
Genie Win Spin - Genie creates mystery symbols or Wilds to guarantee a win.
Genie free spins
This is where the fun starts in earnest when we see 3 or more bonus scatters in view. There are 4 features and unlike other Blueprint slots whereby you aren't guaranteed a decent bonus or free spins from the array of features, here you very much are! There are 4 free games formats and you simply pick on of four lamps to be awarded one;
Multiplying Wilds - Wilds multiply either 2 or 3x like Raging Rhino with an multiplier overlay. 2 or more scatters awards extra spins.
Unlimited Multiplier - same as Bonanza free games but this time the multiplier increases once each spin regardless of winning, like the old Cleopatra 2. Two or more scatters awards extra spins.
Locking Wilds - they only appear on the centre 4 reels, but like the Dead Or Alive free games they stick in view for the duration of the free games, and you play them with the 4 middle reels all fixed at the full 5 rows high. Like the Gates Of Hell free games on Danger High Voltage if you fill a reel up you receive 1-3 extra spins too.
Genie Streak Spins - all wins lock in position (like the Jack Hammer slots) and reels respin until no more winning ways are created. You will have the maximum 15,625 ways all through. If the streak fills a whole reel again 1-3 extra spins are granted.
In all four free spin modes 10 are given for 3 scatters and 12, 15 and 20 for 4, 5 and 6 respectively.
Our View...
Genie Jackpots Megaways slot is easily the best Blueprint slot developed in my opinion. You have big-win potential in the base game, regular random features and good sounds and graphical effects too along with a decent 95.75% RTP. Each of the 4 bonus rounds can be very exciting to watch and potentially huge wins can be had but bear in mind it's a volatile game and you need to prepare for some stinkers as well as the good ones! Despite the name there is no progressive jackpot here and I must point out that a win cap of 10,000x stake applies to any individual spin including features but nevertheless anything even near that amount will certainly be memorable. I will most definitely be back to rub that Magic Lamp again...
