Megajackpots Wheel of Fortune On Air slot is the latest incarnation of the IGT slot series based on the classic US game show. Previously we've seen WOF on Tour, WOF Triple Extreme, WOF Hollywood Edition, WOF Ultra and WOF Triple Action Frenzy and with that amount you'd think they're all much of a muchness! That is partly true but I think here we have a mechanic much more in tune with online players as opposed to the land-based origins of the WOF slots. We retain the background of a TV studio with soundbytes from the audience and presenter, as well as the symbols of wealth on the reels but there are some very new facets to this On Air version of the game.
On The Reels...
We have 20 paying lines on Megajackpots Wheel of Fortune On Air slot with single symbols. The Wilds pay our top 5-of-a-kind here with 15x the 40-coin stake at 600 coins, Jet Plane 150, Speedboat 125, Car 90 and Ring 80. There are four card values for the lower pays ranging from 60 down to 45 coins and of course we have the familiar Golden Wheel scatter on all five reels. As with nearly all IGT slots there are no random in-play modifiers because WOF On Air has everything packed into the Wheel Bonus which we will now unravel.
Wheel of Fortune
You need to land 3 or more Wheel scatters anywhere in view to trigger the WOF itself. It's actually important here if you do actually trigger it with 4 or 5 scatters as the prizes are raised if that occurs, and there are quite a few of them. The 4 scatters means you play on the Super Wheel, 5 scatters the Ultra Wheel. For this reason I shall tell you about the award scale for each of the three triggers.
Purple Segment, Mystery Symbols - up to 6, 11 or 14 mystery icons are placed on the grid which reveal the same icon. All your triggering scatters will become a mystery symbol in this total.
Pink Segment, Wild Reels - the reels your triggering scatters landed on all become Wild, therefore on the Ultra Wheel you'd get a full screen or 300x bet for this.
Green Segment, Respin Feature - your triggering scatters become sticky Wilds and you get a respin for each one, with any further Wilds also becoming sticky.
Multiplier Wedge - cash value of 3 to 10x stake for 3 scatter trigger, Super Wheel 15 to 50x and Ultra Wheel 75 to 250x.
Megajackpots Segment - you are taken to an envelope turntable with cash values in them and one containing a Progressive megajackpots Token. Super Wheel and Ultra Wheel have better cash values. You win the progressive if the envelope reveals the token!
Our View...
Megajackpots Wheel of Fortune On Air slot is definitely better for the online player with new features such as respins and Wild reels available. The feature isn't too hard to trigger but the maximum pay is only 300x for 5 Wild reels so as with nearly all latter day IGT releases aside from Da Vinci Diamonds Masterworks there is little potential outside the progressive. The RTP is very poor ranging from 89.05 to 92.55% including the jackpot contributions. This means we have a land-based RTP for an online slot which you'd usually expect to be in the 95-97% range. So Megajackpots Wheel of Fortune On Air slot looks good and can be entertaining but there's no excuse for the average returns to be that low in my view.
