Merlin’s Magic Mirror slot summary
Merlin's Magic Mirror slot by iSoftBet seems to have been released around the same time as a few other games featuring this Arthurian wizard. These are most notably Play'n Go's Rise of Merlin which is a take on Merkur's Magic Mirror Deluxe, Nextgen's Merlin's Money Burst itself a take on WMS' Bruce Lee and Merlin's Magic Respins from the same developer. At least we have an original if not hugely imaginative game here with gentle magical music in the background and transparent reels set over a cave of mysterious crystals and Merlin standing guard to the left. So can Merlin's Mirror reflect well upon our bankroll here?
On The Reels...
So our resident wizard of Merlin's Magic Mirror slot gives us 20 paying lines over 5 reels of 3 rows each. Your best symbol is Merlin himself at 25x bet for 5-of-a-kind, Owl 12.5x, Book 10x, Bottle 8x and five card values from 5 down to 2x for a full line. Symbols are single also stacked so it's possible to see two or three on a reel and Wilds can appear on all of them too. The scatter is also on all reels and is the frame for the Magic Mirror but for now you would expect some other magic to be involved here given the theme and Merlin doesn't let us down.
Random Modifiers
Merlin gives us some Magic Mirror repsins if any symbol lands fully-stacked on reel 1. It will turn into a mystery icon, reveal the same symbol afterwards and it and any of that symbol on the other reels remain in place for a series of respins which occur until no more of this icon are added. He may award Wizard Wilds after any spin too, with a random amount of tiles transforming to the Wild. His last trick is Merlin's Mystery Magic when after a losing spin he may change a cluster of tiles on the grid all into the same icon for a win.
Free Games
3 or more scatters will award 10 free games. The scatters remain in position for the duration as Magic Mirrors and will either change to a cash prize or all to the same icon. You can randomly create more during the free games which will also become sticky and act in the same way. Fun to watch, no huge wins really likely.
Our View...
Merlin's Magic Mirror slot is good fun to play with frequent modifiers in the base game which is a good job as some paid very well, especially the Respins if a high symbol was created on reel 1, whereas the free games didn't! The sound and general feel is good as are the graphics and animations to complete the effect. The RTP is average at 96% but if you want to have a good slotting session on a low to medium variance game you won't go far wrong here, but as I said the maximum win really possible is 500x bet so don't expect huge totals here. Yes, upon reflection I could well stand in front of this mirror again...
