The reels are set over what appears to be a vision of hell with a dark red flaming background but the music is more relaxing than the appearance! We start with a 5x3 grid with 20 pay lines with symbols appearing single or stacked on Diamond Inferno slot. The pays for the 5-of-a-kind wins are Star 100x bet, 7 is 6x, Bar 4x, $ is 2.75x, Dice 2.25x with four card values of 1.75 down to 1.25x for a full line. There aren't any random modifiers as such and we don't get a scatter-triggered feature but these is more to this game than meets the eye. We do however see Wilds on the centre 3 reels and these can appear stacked.
Each win will expand the reels by one row and grant a free re-spin plus add 10 extra pay lines as it does. The maximum is 6 rows when fully expanded via consecutive re-spin wins and when this happens you will be playing over 50 lines. You do get Diamond scatters on the centre 3 reels and these pay according to the rows in play, 1x for landing on row 1, 2x on 2, 4x on row 3 and 6x on row 4, 10x row 5 and 20x row 6 when playing fully expanded reels. These values though are multiplied if you get them when the multiplier trail, as described below, is active.
When you have fully expanded the reels, the re-spins will begin an increasing multiplier after the spin that fully expanded the reels. It starts at 2x, then 3x, 5x and then 10x for all subsequent wins. You can win several thousand times bet according to the rules, but I doubt it! That said, on 10x your 3 scatters would pay 6000x bet if all landing on the top row.
Diamond Inferno slot is modelled on those games such as Netent's Big Bang slot which rely on strings of wins for the big pays. It looks good, sounds fine if you like the guitar riff that is on loop here and animations are rather good. The RTP is 96.19% but it is quite volatile, no pun intended. It can be frustrating watching the final re-spin before full expansion letting you down, but when you do get a string of wins on the fully expanded re-spins, there is potential due to those multipliers. For once, I actually enjoyed throwing my money into the flames...
