Rich Wilde and The Amulet of Dead slot by Play'n Go is another in Play'n Go's series of either this intrepid explorer or his sister/missus? Cat Wilde. In this case we get the same symbols as the famous and first Rich Wilde edition, Book of Dead slot, with the same tomb background, Egyptian music and symbols on the reels. At least with Shield of Athena slot and most recently Tome of Madness slot we had a different look, but we revert here to the first edition. So can we place the amulet upon our bankroll or will it end up amongst the dead within these tombs?
On the reels...
There are 5 reels of 3 rows each and 10 pay lines on
Rich Wilde and The Amulet of Dead slot. The Eye of Horus is both Wild and scatter appearing on all reels and the best 5-of-a-kind pay at 100x bet along with the Explorer himself, Gold Mask 40x, Seti or Ra 15x with five values of either 3 or 2x for five. You have also got Thoth Stacked Wilds on the centre 3 reels here and when counting in a win, they multiply it 2x if one counts, 3x if two count and lastly 5x when all three appear which is then a certain win.
No surprise to the format here, land 3 or more Eye of Horus scatters for 10 free games and a special expanding symbol selected except the Wild/scatter. Now the stacked Thoth Wild will also count in your expanding scatter wins too, with any retriggers adding 10 spins with the same symbol. This game has potential for 25,000x bet and if you see the image in this review, that total win was for a free games bonus which selected possibly the worst symbol, the 10. You wouldn't get that much on Book of Dead for having the 10!
Rich Wilde and The Amulet of Dead slot had me thinking 'Oh, not again!' but it turned out to be a highly playable game with those stacked Wilds adding an imaginative twist to the old format. The RTP is 96.25% and by using the safe old look, sounds and animations from Book of Dead, Play'n Go played it safe with the appearance. The base game can throw some big wins in via the Thoth but the free spins are really good if those Thoth Wilds are benevolent, they always seem to pay well from my testing experience. Try taking away this amulet and you may not end up dead after all...
