Book of Gems Megaways slot summary
Book of Gems Megaways slot is the first of the mechanic from Skywind, the Isle of Man based developer. As the name suggests, it's pretty easy to tell what the game is based on. Yes, Book of Ra Deluxe from Novomatic and it's not the first time the formula has been applied to multiway slots, as we saw with Big Time Gaming's Book of Gods slot and we also saw Blueprint Gaming try the mechanic with Legacy of Ra Megaways. We have the standard desert background and Egyptian symbols and music for the theme here, so will this slot prove to be a gem for our bankroll?
On the reels...
You have 5 reels of 2 to 5 rows each on Book of Gems Megaways slot which means 32 to 3125 ways to win. The symbol pays for 5-of-a-kinds are 8x bet Explorer, 5x Pyramid, 2.8x Scarab or Ring and five card values pay 1.6 or 1.2x for each full way. No in-play modifiers, no replacement symbols from above and Book scatter/Wilds appear on the middle 3 reels.
Free Games
Landing your 3 Book Wilds on the centre 3 reels yields 10 free games which can retrigger and use the same symbol the Book initially revealed. The symbol selected is highlighted gold and will pay as an expanding scatter. This means the Explorer could land on all 5 reels at 5 rows so paying a maximum of 8x 3125 which is 25,000x bet. Good luck with that!
Our View...
Book of Gems Megaways slot is to be honest a pretty poor affair all round. The RTP at 95.00% is lower than usual for Megaways games, the graphics and symbols average at best and the base game pays low. You can buy the feature in some jurisdictions for 70x bet but I would beware as 95% of the time this paid well below the cost. Getting 3OAK wins of premium symbols if selected, or 4OAK card values is very difficult in the bonus although it does retrigger often enough. For me, these gems have no sparkle at all...
