Raging Storms slot is a welcome improvement on the recent output from IGT firstly because the game actually has some potential and secondly it's not dull to watch as you play. There are transparent reels over a violent sky with the expected lightning and whirlwinds alongside some dramatic weather sounds as we spin. The Raging Storms mechanic seems partly to be based on Netent's The Invisible Man with a hint of the Microgaming Titans of The Sun duo, Theia and Hyperion, only they have better weather! On The Reels...
We have 5 reels of 4 rows each on Raging Storms slot, but only 25 pay lines which is unusual for that pattern. We pay 25 coins to spin and symbols appear single to fully-stacked on them with two distinct sets - the Gods which pay 250 coins for Lightning, Wind 200, Ice 150 and Rain 100 with four card suits paying either 30 or 25 coins for 5-of-a-kind. There are Bonus scatters on all 5 reels but it's the Wild events we need to experience first.
Storm Wilds
On reel 1, 5 or both you may see a Storm Wild appear which will migrate in the opposite direction over the following paid spins until it drops off the opposite side. You may have predicted that if two storms meet on the same position, things will happen and you'd be right. Depending on which row you will see either a 2x2, 2x3, 3x2 or even 3x3 Super Storm Wild created. Not only that, the constituent Wild tiles in this Super Storm Wild can reveal a random 2x, 3x, 5x or even a 10x multiplier. The Super Storm will break down into the initial two Wilds with no multiplier on the next spin though.
Free Spins
3 or more scatters gets you 7, 9, 12 or 15 free spins depending on the value of the God you pick to be super-stacked. You cannot retrigger them but you will begin with a Storm Wild on both end reels. You can get more than 2 on the grid at once and more tend to appear in the free games. Your free games end don't end necessarily after the number awarded, but can go on and on as long as you keep getting fresh Storm Wilds. A random multiplier of 2, 3, 5 or 10x can appear on any spin, not just when the Super Storm Wild is formed.
Our View...
Raging Storms slot is quite entertaining and theoretically can pay many lines of the 10x stake best 5OAK in the free games at 10x multiplier to give wins in excess of 1000x bet. You pick your own volatility based on your choice of super-stacked God and the bonus comes in reasonably frequently too. The base game is nothing special until the Storm Wilds land but it does look and sound good. The RTP is 92.97 to 96.47% depending on the operator's setting. I doubt I will be storming back for another visit, but the weather forecast here isn't as bad as you may think...
