Hall of The Mountain King slot summary
Hall of The Mountain King slot by Quickspin (or Hall of the Mountain King to use the rather lengthy full title) is another of their myth and mystery themes of a similar mould to Fairy Gate and Ivan Immortal King although the characters here are rather comedic as with Dwarfs Gone Wild. You have a classic tune you'll all recognise as the background music here and loud rumbling as the stone block reels stop, which is appropriate as we have a rustic stone wall behind the reels too. This Mountain King seems to rule over a land of ugly trolls and misfits that won't hesitate to forcibly relieve us of our bankroll though!
On The Reels...
We get 20 fixed pay lines on Hall of The Mountain King slot where symbols can either land singly or in double stacks, including the Wild. The 5-of-a-kind pays are 40x bet for the Wild or King Troll, 20x Orange Female, 15x Purple Female, 10x Green Man and 7.5x Blue Man with 5 card values of 6.25 down to 2.5x for a full line. The Wilds do have an important role here as each one appearing in view will multiply any wins by 1x, so standard if one Wild appears and 5x if five or more are on the grid, and bear in mind they don't need to be involved in any winning lines to initiate their multiplier.
Free Games
You need to land a Jewelled Hammer scatter on all 3 centre reels for a free spins bonus. You don't get a fixed number of free games but a rather weird 3-stage bonus. In stage 1 you will have a limited number of spins to upgrade the 5 card values to their respective symbol of the 5 character ones. The 5 card values are displayed on the right and a multiplier on the left and each win will make the Troll smash the lower card value in the right hand column. When he does, you get a multiplier added on the left. The top card value Ace will be highlighted and you smash this to go to stage 2. You will smash it eventually so will be guaranteed to hit stage 2 with at least one symbol upgraded and a 2x multiplier in play, but that is poor - you really need 4 or 5 wins to upgrade 4 or 5 symbols and have the multiplier in the second stage at 5 or 6x.
In the second stage you'll only have the symbols on the reels left after upgrades, fully stacked this time too. Each time you win, the multiplier will increase by 1 and in free spins it can hit a maximum of 15x. You will also unlock up to 6 Whirling Wilds which are stored for stage 3. In both stage 1 and this stage, the Troll may randomly smash the pile bringing down the highlighted block of Ace or double Whirling Wild and trigger the next stage.
You get a fixed 3 spins in stage 3 with hopefully by then a decent multiplier accumulated and most or all card values upgraded to higher symbols. During each spin the collected Whirling Wilds are randomly dispersed onto the grid when the reels stop. Quickspin boast that you can win over 7,000x bet in the bonus.
Our View...
I don't really know what to make of Hall of The Mountain King slot but I do know I quite liked it as the bizarre bonus is usually quite entertaining with not inconsiderable hit potential. Your graphics and animations are of the usual high Quickspin standard and the soundtrack fits nicely in with the fantasy theme, even if it is slightly on the juvenile side. Your RTP is 96.29% and the base game yield some surprisingly large hits, often more than you manage to accrue during the free games bonus! It may be worth you trying to become king of the mountains here...
