Some gentle music, an icy and snowy background with frosty symbols set the scene here which isn't a bad start. Play'n Go's very own Ice Joker slot recently used this appearance and combine that with IGT's Icy Wilds slot and you get the picture here. On the reels...
There are initially 5 reels of 3 rows each so 243-ways to win on Frozen Gems slot but you will observe there are x2, x3 and Wild displayed above the reels. These are activated by getting 3 winning symbols removed on the respective reel. The x2 and x3 reels will split symbols 2 or 3 times to increase the rows and that reel, the Wild will make all symbols on that reel Wild. You can achieve therefore a maximum 8748-ways per spin. The 5-of-a-kind pays are low with Wild 2.5x bet, 4 different Gemstones 1 down to 0.65x and five card values of 0.5 down to 0.3x for a full way. The combination of Wild and x2 and x3 splitters varies and resets every spin. Your final symbol is a Crystal scatter of which you need to collect 3 on the same spin to store up the top. Each winning tumble increases the multiplier in play by 1x.

Our View...
Frozen Gems slot has a 96.20% default RTP and to be very honest, is very frustrating to watch as you play. Lots of dead spins, small wins and the occasional big win while the feature is hard to trigger. The feature is the best part of the game and makes up for the tedious graphics and animations, which although appearing nice enough initially, soon become eye-watering. You can win big in the bonus, but realistically expect 5-150x bet each time. I'm afraid this is one game that'll be frozen out from me this winter...
