Ooh Aah Dracula slot summary
Ooh Aah Dracula might sound more like the sort of chant you might hear on halloween but, believe it or not, the genius minds at Barcrest have decided that it would work well as a slots title.
On the Reels...
This 5 reel, 10 payline certainly takes on a unique angle on the Dracula theme with a more parody feel to it as Dracula dons his shades and takes on a more smooth operator persona than the ruthless killer that he is commonly depicted as. Bram Stoker is probably turning in his grave right now at the thought of somebody turning his evil character into some kind of Spring Break jock who is more concerned by drinking Bloody Mary cocktails as opposed to the blood of a woman called Mary.
The Symbols
Symbols on the reels include Dracula himself, the Ooh Aah Dracula logo, Dracula's Transylvania castle, a buxom blonde female vampire, a grinning werewolf, and the regular 10-through-to-Ace symbols.
Get Wild with Dracula!
The Wild symbol is represented by the Wild icon. It substitutes for all symbols, except for the stake through the heart Scatters, to complete any potential winning combinations that might appear across the reels.
Fancy 15 Free Spins with an Extra Wild?
The Scatters play a key part in triggering the free spins bonus rounds. If you hit three of the Scatters across the reels you will trigger 15 free spins. Before the free spins start one of the base game symbols will be chosen to act as an Extra Wild.
Stake It or Leave It with 10 Free Spins and Two Extra Wilds
If you're thinking hitting four of the Scatters across the reels will award more spins then you're wrong. In a slight twist, four Scatters will trigger the Stake It or Leave It Free Spins Bonus. It is then possible to play up to two rounds of free spins. The first round of free spins will consist of 15 free spins with one Extra Wild added to the reels. At the end of the first round, you then have the chance to either Collect their winnings or progress to the second round of free spins. However, if you choose to ignore the Collect and progress to the second round, your first round winnings are erased and you will be given 10 free spins but two Extra Wilds are added to the reels.
Get Super with 5 Free Spins and Three Extra Wilds
If you hit five Scatters across the reels then the game continues with this fresh approach of a new type of Free Spins Bonus. This time it triggers the Super Stake It or Leave It Free Spins Bonus. This is the same as the Super Stake It or Leave It Free Spins Bonus except instead of the two rounds of free spins, you will get the chance to progress to a third round where you will receive 5 free spins but with three Extra Wilds added to the reels.
Collect or Progress with the Strategy Indicator
Deciding whether to Collect or progress to the next free spins bonus round might be confusing but do not fear. There is a Best Strategy Indicator on hand to aid your decision-making. This involves a creepy skeleton hand rising from a grave and pointing a grave stone that has a meter engraved onto it indicating whether it is more advisable to Collect or progress.
Be a Hi Roller and Bet Big
Ooh Aah Dracula also comes with the Hi Roller play option. This consists of 5 spins in a row and all wins are accumulated and paid out at the end of the 5 spins. It is also possible to trigger the free spins bonus rounds during Hi Roller play. However, the free spins come with an added bonus in Hi Roller play. If you trigger the Stake It or Leave It Free Spins Bonus you will get to play the Graveyard Bonus at the end of the free spins. If you trigger the Super Stake It or Leave It Free Spins Bonus then you will play the Super Graveyard Bonus. In these additional bonus games you will enter a Pick'em Bonus-style feature where you must select a grave stone from a choice of grave stones to reveal how many souls have been been won with the souls revealing cash prize values. This is a great feature because it takes something from the land-based version of this game and brings it onto the online platform.
Our View...
This slot is not one I was familiar with on the land-based circuit so I am pleased its online release has allowed me to give it a try. It was quite confusing to get to grips with, especially with the Hi Roller option but with the RTP potentially being increased to 99% in Hi Roller mode this really added a new dimension to the game. I've enjoyed other Barcrest slots such as the Irish-themed Rainbow Riches and the Gothic The Curse of Frankenstein but this is by far the best yet for me. A bolt out of the blue and one that Barcrest should use as a marker for other titles.
