Typically they come packed with fruit symbols like apples, oranges, melons, grapes, bananas and cherries, and the pay-lines are typically on the low side. That’s the tip that leading developer Microgaming are obviously on with their slot, Monster Mania.
On the Reels…
A 5 reel, 9 pay-line slot, Monster Mania features all of the requisite fruit iconography as I’ve spelled out plus plenty of wacky-looking monsters. With coins ranging from $0.25 to $2.00 this will certainly appeal to the lower end of the gambling spectrum. The top-paying goggle-eyed bad guy pays out a 1,000-coin jackpot if you hit five across the reels.
Look Out for the Monster Wild!
The game has a Wild (if not much else) and it’s the MONSTER WILD icon. It substitutes for all regular symbols in the game other than the one Scatter, and it only appears on reels 2, 3, and 4.
Hit the Scatters to Win up to 100 Coins
The Scatter, meanwhile, is the Scatter Brain symbol. Five Scatters pays out a 100-coin jackpot but they won’t trigger any special bonus feature in the game.
No Bonus Rounds
If you’re after some quick thrills on the slots, Monster Mania certainly delivers. It’s simple, colorful, has some nice casino sound FX running in the background, and offers plenty of wins via the Wilds and Scatters that regularly crop up. 9 pay-lines and a top coin of $2.00 isn’t meant to appeal to the big gamblers, and that’s why the bonus features have been kept to a minimum. Actually, when I say ‘minimum’ I mean zero, as there are no bonus rounds at all.
If the thought of a Betsoft Gaming-style 3D cutaway scene leaves you cold, Monster Mania could be for you.
