Relic Seekers slot summary
Relic Seekers slot is typical of Microgaming of late with the game being produced by a smaller in-house studio, in this case Pulse 8 which is a new one on me. Most of these are not up to the older standards of MG's own games like Jurassic Park alas, but some do get near the mark. Here we have a dark cave as the backdrop with old gears and cogs grinding away at the sides of the grid and the game is quiet in idle mode, possibly because we are underground. You do get some nice heavy noises when the tiles stop as we have a cascade format here as you might have experienced on slots such as Gonzo's Quest or MG's Ancient Fortunes Zeus. So will we be able to seek a rise to our bankroll amongst these old relics?
On The Reels...
We have 25 pay lines here and winning tiles are removed to be replaced from above. You can get Lantern Wilds on all columns and these are top pay at a rather odd 42x for 5-of-a-kind, then 18x Boy, 15x Man, 12x Girl and 11x for their Alsatian dog with 5 rune tiles paying either 5 or 4x for a line of 5. Gold Portal scatters can appear on all reels but before we learn about the bonus, we have a strange way of creating extra Wilds in the base game.
Extra Wilds
On the left you see the 3 human characters each with 2 squares by them. If you get 2 cascades in one spin, then the Girl tiles anywhere on the grid become Wild. This could well lead to more winning cascades, so if you get to 4 then the Man does the same on the grid, then to 6 cascades the Boy, so all Human tiles will turn Wild on the grid.
Free Games
3 or more Portal Gold scatters will trigger 10 free drops or games which cannot retrigger. You do get a Green Relic added to reel 5 though, similar to what happens on Netent's Jack and the Beanstalk slot. Three of these collected trigger 2 extra spins, get to 6 and then you receive another 2 extra spins plus a 2x multiplier for the remaining free spins.
Our View...
This Relic Seekers slot is nice looking game with a well executed theme, good sound effects and animations plus a reasonable 96.02% RTP. The mechanic is different from what we've seen before but like many slots the ultra-low volatility and poor win potential damns the game in my view. The free games come so regularly you know in your heart when you play the slot you'll never see a productive feature and I had better wins in one spin on the base game than I ever saw in total from any of my numerous free games rounds. This slot is now a relic of my past and I won't be seeking it out again I'm sad to say...
