Ghost of Dead slot by Play'n Go is another shelf-filler to join their ever expanding 'Book' series. This began back in 2017 with Book of Dead slot, a copy of Novomatic's Book of Ra Deluxe slot and since then they've released, along with multiple developers, many a version with a slight tweaking of the formula. Examples include Doom of Egypt slot and to go with the male explorer Rich Wilde from the first example, we got the Cat Wilde series including Doom of Dead slot. Yes, 10 lines over 5 reels of 3 rows with single symbols is the set up on Ghost of Dead slot. Our 5-of-a-kind pays are Canopus scatter/Wild (which can randomly transform to Spectral Canopus scatter) at 200x stake (1000x if on a win line), Mask 1000x, Scarab 160x, Asp or Ankh 60x with 5 card values of either 12 or 8x. If the normally Yellow Jars turn a ghostly green and become Spectral Jars, then what this does is trigger the Ghost Spin on each free spin. This means as well as your fixed self-chosen symbol (but chosen from only a selection of 3 the game offers you) to act as an expanding scatter meaning a 10x multiplier if enough land, 2 for the premiums and 3 for the card values, each spin you get a randomly selected second expanding scatter. If the trigger is the standard Yellow Jar, you just get your chosen symbol as with Book of Dead slot. A full screen of the top pay is 10,000x stake, so some higher volatility and potential here.
Our View...
While nothing special, Ghost of Dead slot has a decent enough 96.25% factory RTP and brings a bit extra to this popular but now very stale old mechanic. Nothing special either are the graphics, sounds and animations here with the same old rare big wins in the base game and low feature frequency but a high enough average return. I actually prefer it to Book of Dead as the random Ghost Feature adds something to the game as well as the fact you really choose your own volatility when selecting your expanding symbol. The Spectral free spins are those which really pay though if you're lucky enough to get the Canopus transformation! You could win big here and actually have more than a ghost of a chance that your bankroll won't turn dead at all...
