Perfect Gems slot summary
Perfect Gems slot by Play'n Go is a barely-disguised attempt at their own version of Big Time Gaming's Megaways series without being a Megaways slot. Confused? It's really quite a straightforward concept whereby the middle 4 reels can split symbols to make a maximum 7 rows on each. The appearance is Olde Worlde with a monastic room in the background and gentle medieval lyre music as we spin the reels and various jewel gems on the reels but you may note the resemblance to Bonanza or Diamond Mine in the reel pattern. So will this game be perfect for our bankroll or will these gems soon lose their sparkle?
On The Reels...
We have 6 reels here with 3 rows each on Perfect Gems slot but with an extra row above the 4 centre reels, giving us a minimum of 2304 ways per spin. If all 4 centre reels land split symbols to the maximum, then you get 7 rows on each giving the maximum 21,609 ways. As with most Megaways slots such as Vikings Unleashed, the winning symbols disappear to allow replacements to cascade from above. This means you can win multiple times for each play and instead of just the free games, here you get the increasing multiplier format applied to the base game too!
Symbols appear both singly and stacked with single Wilds only appearing on the row of 4 above the centre reels (where have we seen that before?) with single scatters in the form of a gold-encrusted Diamond on all six reels. The 6-of-a-kind pays are Blue Gem 25x, Yellow 4x, Green 2.5x and Pink 2x with six card values offering 1.5 down to 08x bet for a way of 6. As said, these can all be multiplied if appearing after the initial win, due to the increasing multiplier shown on the left of the grid.
Free Games
You need 3 or more of the Gold Diamond scatters anywhere in view for 9 free games, and for 4,5 or 6 scatters you get 15, 21 or 27 free spins respectively. You begin your free spins bonus with the multiplier in play in the base game when you triggered them. There are no retriggers but you do get an unlimited increasing multiplier for every winning action and every scatter that does appear, now in the form of a Diamond Jewel, will add 2 extra free spins.
Our View...
Perfect Gems slot is technically a cheap non-licensed version of the famous Megaways mechanic under a different name. That said, it works, looks and sounds good and the extra spins in the bonus for 1 scatter is a great idea. You are however limited to a bonus round win of 5000x bet as with other Play'n Go slots such as Moon Princess which will probably mean too that it would be very hard to achieve. On the other hand, you don't need to wait an average of 460 spins for a feature like you do on Bonanza and you always seem to get a respectable total on Perfect Gems too. This could well prove to be a gem of a slot, although by no means perfect...
