Bowling Frenzy slot summary
Bowling Frenzy slot from Playtech doesn't really have a sporting theme but here the bowling refers to the 1950's and 60's cafe culture of the USA, where the youth could meet up and dance too. This perhaps explains why we see a male and female character on the intro screen which look suspiciously like cheap representations of Travolta and Olivia Newton John in the days when they appeared in Grease, a fact further cemented by the rock'n roll soundtrack we hear. Playtech actually made a trademarked licensed Grease slot while Netent made The Groovy Sixties which wasn't really Rock'n Roll like the Elvis slots. The game looks interesting enough though with the reels set over the wooden bowling lanes and nice matching symbols and some adornments above the reels we'll soon get to. So will it be strike or gully for our bankroll here?
On The Reels...
There are 40 pay lines over 5 reels of 4 rows apiece with stacked symbols including the Star Wilds which are our best 5-of-a-kind win at 20x our 40-coin bet, giving a max 800x for a full screen. The male character we'll call 'John' is also 20x, Olivia 10x, Pink Cadillac 7.5x, Shoes or Fast Food 4x with five card values paying either 3,2 or 1x for a full line. 10-Pin Respins
You'll start with 7 bowling pins above each of the centre reels. Any scatter landing on those reels will add up to 3 to this total. When accruing 10 pins you get a special respin triggered. A bowl will launch and however many pins it knocks down adds that quantity of stacked Wilds to that reel above which you triggered it. You will spin in a win and then the game takes a cascading form with any winning tiles disappearing and replaced from above until wins cease.
Free Games
You need 3 scatters on the centre reels to trigger a choice of 3 features. You can also trigger the above 10-Pin Respin feature simultaneously which is played first. You can choose:
High Wins Spins - 10 to 25 free games for 3 to 5 scatters triggering. Only high-vlaue symbols appear on the reels and you cannot retrigger them or get the 10-Pin Respins.
Multiplier Free Spins - 10 to 30 spins for 3 to 5 scatters here and normal reels. You start with 6 pins above the centre 3 reels regardless of how many existed before the triggering spin. If you get the 10-pin Respins, all Wild wins are multiplied from 2 to 5x but there is no retrigger.
Kingpin Cash Bonus - if you opt for this, you get 2 bowls. The first awards a cash multiplier of up to 100x bet. The second will award a mutliplier of that amount of up to 25x. The more scatters you trigger with, the better the prize you're likely to get.
Our View...
Bowling Frenzy slot is actually a colourful and entertaining game to play with plenty to keep you involved. The base game performs well with some decent wins thrown in on occasion although the 3 scatters can elude you for a while. The slot has really decent animation sequences and imaginative free games although being realistic you won't be winning huge prizes despite the inferred potential of up to 2500x in the Kingpin Cash bonus for example. The theme has been done very well although some may liken it to a poor man's Grease. That said, I would suggest it's worth seeing if Bowling Frenzy really is up your alley...
