Scientific Games subsidiary Barcrest has released its latest slot ‘Mighty Black Knight‘, much to the confusion of regular players and our senior game reviewers. The game looks and sounds very much like a WMS slot and would logically follow Black Knight, Black Knight 2 and Valiant Knight, all of which are WMS titles. However, the game comes with Barcrest branding thoughout, leaving you in no doubt that it is a Barcrest slot. It seems this isn’t the first instance of the mixing of the development teams now that Scientific Games owns the major developers WMS, Barcrest and Bally.
Many players assumed that all the new Monopoly slots would all come through WMS after the first titles Monopoly Big Event and Epic Monopoly 2 were released. However, the development of Monopoly slots was shortly flipped over to Barcrest when they launched Monopoly Bring The House Down. This may not seem like a big deal to most players as long as the games are good, but certain long term slots players do not like the idea of different developers releasing titles from the same series.
There is also concern that both companies have simply been combined, essentially seeing the end to a standalone WMS slot game. Something that diehard WMS slot fans have been dreading. There has been no clarification from Scientific Games as to how the two subsidary’s are working together, but it is likely to lead to more confusion should they keep releasing games in this way.
