Jewel of the Dragon slot summary
Already a popular land-based slot - and one that is racking up big wins for its players, if the uploaded videos across slots forums are anything to go by - Jewel of the Dragon from Bally Technologies is a lovely slice of mythical mayhem across five reels. OK, this is a Bally slot, so it's not that good-looking, but the game screen is interesting to start off with. The game appears in portrait mode for starters, with the reels shoved down the bottom of the screen. There's a reason for this, though. At the top of the screen sits a little green dragon guarding a jewel. He will feature a little later on in the game.
Tetris with Dragons
Played out over 40 fixed paylines and four rows, the symbols are your usual royal-themed fare (and Bally royal-themed fare at that): 10-to-Ace symbols adorned with crowns and crests, gold bells, and a shield. While the reels are spinning, look out for the Tetris-style shapes that are dropping down over the reels. These 'Hot Zone' Wild Patterns can land over the reels, turning every symbol they cover into Wilds for nice big wins.
Nudge Your Way to Wins with the Dragon Nudge Bonus
If you land certain Hot Zone patterns completely outside the reels you will trigger the Dragon Nudge Bonus Feature. The dragon will leap into action, nudging the Hot Zone down onto the reels to turn symbols Wild. As you can tell, this is a slot that offers something a little different from your average title.
Trigger Extra Wilds with the Drop Zone Bonus
Three Scattered pink diamonds dropping over and landing on reels 2, 3, and 4 activates the Drop Zone Bonus Feature. Select one of the diamonds first to reveal the Bonus Drop Zone. Every symbol within the zone turns Wild.
Earn 8 Free Spins with up to a 5x Multiplier
The Wild symbol is the Wild icon (obviously) and substitutes for all regular symbols in the game other than the Scatters. Three or more Bonus Dragon symbols or Wilds triggers the Free Spins Bonus. Depending on how many Scatters or Wilds you land, you will win 8 free spins but with a 1x, 2x, or 5x multiplier attached for 3, 4, or 5 triggering Scatters/Wilds respectively. The free spins round is played on a different set of reels. And if a Wild appears during the bonus round, it will stay in place for the duration of the round.
Our View...
If you're a big fan of Sticky Wilds and lots of regular wins you should get a kick out of Jewel of the Dragon. The Hot Zone Wilds is a nice touch and I found it hitting regularly, but bring your bankrolls to get the most of it. If you are looking for a bit more fantasy-themed action on the reels, check out WMS's old-fashioned Dragon's Inferno slot, while the more light-hearted Dragon Drop from NextGen Gaming is a great alternative.
