Monopoly Heights slot review

monopoly heights slot gameMonopoly Heights slot from Bally has increased the already bloated catalogue of these Hasbro Licensed slots based on the old classic Monopoly board game. From various developers we've seen Monopoly Pass Go, Mega Movers, Dream Life, City Spins and Here and Now to name but five other ones. Of late they tend to be low-volatility and quite tedious games, especially from Bally as their Wonder Woman Bullets and Bracelets demonstrated with its woeful symbol pays. Monopoly Heights refers to the skyscrapers in the cartoon background but we retain the jaunty piano music and familiar symbols here, so can this game take your bankroll to new heights too?

On The Reels...

You start Monopoly Heights with 1024-ways over a grid of 5 reels of 4 rows each. Symbols can appear stacked and Bally have kept things simple with the 5-of-a-kind pays. You do get single Wilds on all reels but the first therefore no 5OAK wins for those but the Monopoly Man, Game Logo and Diamond all pay 25 coins or 1x your 25-coin bet and that's as high as it gets! Car, Ring and Cash all pay 15 coins and there are five card values all paying 9 coins for a full way of 5 symbols. This does sound pretty abysmal as far as potential goes but there are a couple of features available that may pay something worthwhile.

Expanding Reels

If you get any Monopoly Man win, which can be 2-of-a-kind or more, you trigger a respin feature. The initial 5x4 grid symbols are all held and an extra row is added to make the slot 3125-ways. Any Men appearing on just this single-row will trigger another single row to be added but only if they add to the existing winning ways. You can repeat this for a further 3 rows which are 7776, 16807 and finally 32768 ways if all 8 rows are attained. This is why we get Heights in the title of the game! It's a bit misleading though as all reels below your new row are frozen, inclluding losing icons therefore the potential returns are very limited.

Jackpots

These aren't progressives but fixed amounts like you see on slots such as WMS' Wishing You Fortune. There are the Mini, Minor, Major and Grand which pay 10, 25, 125 and 2500x bet respectively. To trigger this game you need a Hotel to appear on both reels 1 and 5 but on occasion it may randomly award the picks feature with just a single Hotel appearing. You are presented with 32 Community Chest type cards and need to fill up the meter beneath each jackpot level to win it. The meters contain 3, 4, 5 and 8 symbols of one of the board counters like the Hat, Car etc. Reveal the relevant quantity of any counter to win that jackpot amount.

Our View...

Monopoly Heights slot is pretty dreary despite the regular in-play Monopoly Man respin feature. The most I ever saw in that despite numerous attempts was 18x bet. This feature itself means the win frequency is quite low overall and I must may I was bored within 50 spins when I first tried the slot. The game looks decent enough and the repetitive music is just about tolerable but the low win potential kills it to put it simply. The jackpot game will nearly always pay the mini too. This Monopoly slot is most definitely not the height of entertainment for me...
