Wacky Races slot summary
Wacky Races slot is not likely to need too many explanations, especially for cartoon fans of a certain age. This Bally-built game is based on the Hanna-Barbara cartoon series that was popular in the 80’s and 90’s. A prominent character in this slot is Dick Dastardly, who sits above the reels regularly intervening in the game. The sounds in this game are a little child like if you ask me, something I assumed developers were moving away from. So will Dastardly lead us to a healthy profit or will our balance end up skidding off the road?

The whole appearance for Wacky Races is set up for playing in portfolio position on your phone, just like a slot machine cabinet. Although you can happily play it on desktop as well. It is a 5 reel, 4 row slot, with a total of 40 paylines. Symbol pays aren’t particularly high with the Dastardly Wild and the Dastardly and Muttley symbols both paying 25x for 5-of-a-kind (5OAK). However, most other symbols, including all other racers vehicles pay no more than 2.5x for 5OAK. The A-K-Q make up the remaining standard symbols on the reels.
Bonuses - for better or worse
Wacky Races offers a ‘Better Bonuses’ option (bottom left). By selecting this option you can improve a bonus bet from 10x to 35x. However, this comes at a cost, as each spin will be an extra 50% increase in cost.
Base game features
There are several base game features in Wacky Races, which are as follows:
Wild Reels - This feature is triggered at random in the base game. All positions on 1 or more of the reels will be turned Wild. If it is the Wacky Races symbol is turned Wild then it changes to a Wacky Races Wild symbol, so can also trigger the bonus game.
Random Wilds - Another feature triggered at random, between 3-11 symbols will randomly be turned Wild (depending whether the ‘Better Bonuses’ is active or not). If the Wacky Races symbol becomes Wild it will act as a bonus trigger as well.
Bonus features
Land 3 Wacky Races or Wacky Races Wild symbols on reels 1, 3 and 5 and you will trigger the Racing Bonus feature. 1 of 5 cars are selected offering one of the following:
Penelope Pitstop free spins - You are awarded 12 free spins and you collected Hearts to lock reels. The more you can lock the better your winning possibilities are.
Mutley Wacky Scrap Yard bonus - Progress through a series of levels picking either cash prizes, multipliers or bombs. There are 5 levels to progress through, so try and avoid the bombs, which will end the feature.
Creepy Coupe free spins - You will be awarded 10 free spins with the added benefit of Random Wilds or Wild Reels occurring on every spin. If you land the Gruesome Twosome on reels 1, 3 and 5 then you will get a further 10 free spins.

Wacky Races slot joins a long line of games that are packed so full of features that you are left dizzy. Other examples include IGT’s Ghostbusters slot, Bally’s Titanic slot and Playtech's The Flintstones. I can see this appealing to a more inexperienced slots player, who is looking for lots of bonus action. The RTP for the is slot 96.03% and I would consider it low volatility.
