Gun Slinger slot (yes, they have it as two separate words and not to be confused with Gunslinger from Play'n Go) is yet another Blueprint game based on those of other developers. We get some classic old Western movie music with tapping noises as the reels stop, although I think gunshots would have been better! There are Bounty Hunter Wilds on all reels which also act as scatters so some of you will know right now where this is leading. Your wanted poster or Wilds pay 500x bet for a full line of 5, then the Horse 200x, Pistols or Stetson 75x with K or A 15x and finally Q, J or 10 awarding 10x. Yes, Novomatic players, you're dead right so you will also know that 3 Wilds anywhere in view triggers 10 free games.
Having triggered the 10 free spins, you are taken to a 3x3 grid which contains all 9 standard symbols. You then choose one yourself which becomes an expanding scatter during the free games and therefore you effectively choose your own volatility by selecting a low-pay like a 10 or a high-pay like the Wanted Poster which is of course the equivalent of the Explorer in Novomatic's Book of Ra Deluxe slot. You can retrigger with 3 more Wilds and if you do, you can also choose the second symbol and the same applies to any further retriggers. Gun Slinger cannot be faulted for the game mechanic as we know it's incredibly popular amongst high-variance aficionados and despite blatantly emulating an old format at least Blueprint have tried to make it more interesting by allowing you to choose symbol(s) in the bonus. As a result the long-term RTP varies from 95.18-96.13% which is around the same as those two games just mentioned. The theme is pretty corny and the music annoyed me after a short while playing but getting the free spins is nevertheless entertaining knowing you have the option to plan a strategy of high or low icons. If you can't play Merkur or Novomatic slots at your casino, then you should certainly consider slinging a few credits into this game...
