Blue Wizard slot by Playtech is a game steeped in mystery with the reels set over a woodland glade at night although the music is rather more gentle than the appearance would lead you to expect, but it's early days yet. The theme is not executed too childishly, unlike with Novomatic's Wizard slot or Nextgen Merlin's Magic Respins and WMS' Wizard of Oz Ruby Slippers although it would only be fair to mention the latter was based on a children's film. So can this wizard work his magic on our bankroll here, or will the air be blue with the sounds of failure?
Symbols are single here on Blue Wizard slot with 30 lines although you only pay 10 coins per spin. The 5-of-a-kinds are pretty low on this 5-reel 3-row game with the Owl paying 6x bet, Cauldron 4x, Book 3x, Ring 2.5x and five card values all paying 1.6x for a full line. We can see these multiplied but will arrive at that later, for now we get stacked Blue Wizard Wilds on the grid but not on the first reel and Castle scatters on all 5 reels. You can see Orbs land stacked and singly which take us to a cash and jackpots feature, but first those free spins.
So 3 or more castle scatters award 6 free games. During these, the Wild Blue Wizards stacked on reel 3 will reveal a multiplier on each position they cover which will be either 2, 4, 8 or 16x. This will be a different amount for each row the stacked Wild lands over on reel 3. You can retrigger these games and you'll see far more Wilds spinning on reel 3 in each free game.
You may see 6 or more stacked Orb symbols land, displaying cash amounts over them which are 1 to 50x stake. This will trigger a repsins game where the 4 progressive jackpots may be won. The triggering Orbs stay in place and the rest of the tiles respin as individual positions. These reveal a colour pertaining to a jackpot and if you collect 3 you win that jackpot as displayed. You reset the respins to 3 each time a symbol lands and if you don't get a jackpot you get the coin wins you collected and you can actually win more than one jackpot too. Fill all 15 tiles and you get the Grand Progressive!
I'm not sure what to make of Blue Wizard slot. It looks modern with decent enough graphics and animations, but uses an old-style jackpot game, has the free spins Bells noise borrowed from US land-based slots and some primitive 1980's computer game sounds when counting up wins! The game is interesting enough for a low to middling variance game with not too much potential and a decent 96.50% RTP plus the free games are quite easily triggered although you've be very fortunate to exceed 100x bet for the round, usually a few tens times your stake. Although this wizard didn't leave me feeling blue, it wasn't bright enough to make me come back for a future visit...
