Break Away Deluxe slot review
Break Away Deluxe slot as you should have immediately spotted is a variation of their existing 243-way Break Away slot. This in itself has been copied numerous times with games such as Basketball Star, Rugby Star, and Cricket Star. At least this time there are a few differences and I suspect this edition may have been created for the Far Eastern market given the prevalence of the number 8 as we'll soon see. The game is very plain with a background of ice and the reels showing ice hockey players and their equipment with some basic sounds broken by the crowd cheering on certain occasions. So can we score a goal or two with our bankroll or are we skating on thin ice here?
On The Reels...
We begin with a grid of 5 reels of 5 rows apiece as opposed to the old 243-way format of before. You still get the cascading replacement symbols for any wins which means more drop down from above to replace winning tiles. You don't get all-ways pays now either, but can choose to pay either 18, 38, 68 or 88 coins for the same amount of lines. As you can imagine the pays are rather odd so for 88 coins you get the following 5-of-a-kind awards:- Red Player 588, White Player 288, Goal Minder 208, Referee 188, Break Away scene 158, Rink 128, Face Mask 108, Skates 98 and finally Ice Sweeper 88. Symbols can appear stacked too and the Wilds are super-stacked on reels 3,4 and 5. You can also get the old random Smashing Wild too which gives a fixed Wild reel on either 2,3 or 4 until wins run out.
You need 3 or more Puck scatters for the 12 free games which cannot be retriggered. During these the Wild stacks on reels 3 to 5 grow by one each spin but the best enhancement is the multiplier trail. Your fist win on any spin is paid at 2x, the second 3x, third 4x, fourth at 5x and finally five or more consecutive actions on one spin will be paid at 8x. There is the potential for some really big totals here although it's a volatile game and often pays less than 10 or 20x bet too.
Break Away Deluxe slot is yet another disappointment from a big developer that hasn't brought out a really popular new slot for nigh on two years as I type this. Some players of the original format may see it as a lower-volatility version and respect it for that fact alone but it really doesn't cut the mustard for me. The RTP is 96.00% plus the amount of lines you play so at the full 88 lines it would be 96.88% but it's just old and dated now despite this. I won't tell anyone to get their skates on to go and play Break Away Deluxe...Review by Gamingslots
