The Wild 3 slot review

the wild 3 slotThe Wild 3 slot has a title that tells us quite simply what the game is all about - it's centred around 3 different Wild features as we will soon discover. The theme is a cartoon Wild West one with background music you would expect from an old Western film like Netent use in their Wild Wild West game and if you look at the scatters these would surely remind you of the Wilds they use in Dead or Alive, their other slot of this theme. The backdrop to the reels is a rickety wooden one-horse town, curiously silent and deserted as if trouble is afoot, but hopefully not for our bankroll!

On the reels...
The Wild 3 gives us 10 paying lines on a typical grid of 5 reels and 3 rows with single symbols and pays left to right only. The stake is 10 coins but like some other Nextgen slots such as Double Play and Wild Play you can play the 'Superbet' and either pay 15 or 20 coins. This simply means that the 3 different Wild features available via reel 3 can appear twice in one spin for 15 coins, or all 3 can appear with you paying 20 coins.

Before we identify the Wild features, let's see what else we have on the reels, based on the basic 10-coin play. The Vulture will pay you 25x bet for a 5-of-a-kind win then the Bank 15x, Safe 10x, Gold Bars, Dynamite or Swag 7.5x and three different coloured cactii all award 5x.

Wanted Poster scatters appear on reels 2 and 4 and once appearing will award up to 3 'Lock 'n Load' re-spins (if it didn't trigger first time) because to trigger the bonus you need one of the 3 different Wilds to land between them. The Wild appearing will not pay its specific Wild feature as listed below, but simply trigger the bonus.

Wild features

Raccoon Wild - Randomly replaces non-Wild symbols with Wild raccoons. if scatters have appeared on reels 2 and 4 the bonus is still triggered afterwards.

Coyote Wild - all low-paying Cactus symbols turn into the Wild Coyote.

Bull Wilds - all winning lines with at least one Wild in are randomly multiplied by 2, 3, 5 or 10x.

Reel 3 will only contain the Coyote for a basic 10-coin bet, the Racoon will be added for the first level of Superbet at 15 coins and the Bull is added for the second Superbet of 20 coins.

Mission Feature - on any level i.e. basic bet or one of the 2 Superbet choices the game randomly selects 3 'missions' to achieve including a high 5-of-a-kind win, low 5OAK win, 100 spins and 20 winning spins. Once you have complete the 3 tasks, indicated by the stars above reel 5, you will go into a pick-me game called 'Rob The Rich' whereby you get 3 picks from 15 swag bags and win coin prizes, extra picks and mystery amounts from 2 to 100x bet.

Free games
When you land the Wanted Poster scatters on reels 2 and 4 with a Wild in between, you'll be granted 5 free spins. Any Wild symbols on reel 3 will become sticky with the exception of the extra Wilds created via the Wild features as they occur. You cannot retrigger them but are awarded an extra spin for each Poster scatter appearing or sticky Wild on reel 3. The spins are played on a different set of reels and can be lucrative if the reel 3 Wilds appear early on!

Our View...
The Wild 3 slot is certainly packed with action even if it does play a little slowly and you have chosen to play the full Superbet 20 coins per spin. The RTP varies as a result from 95.54% at minimum 10-coin stake to 96.79% for the full Superbet mode, which I would recommend is always selected. Graphics and sounds are pretty basic but if you get all 3 different Wilds stuck on reel 3 in the bonus you can win up to 2500x bet on any remaining spins(s) with full Wilds and the possibility of a maximum 10x multiplier applied. The game is centred around the free spins and they usually pay very well hence the scarcity of triggers but you do get frequent Wild action on reel 3 to fill in the gaps. I really wasn't optimistic about The Wild 3 slot when first opening it up, but I will certainly be riding into this town again...
